About Me

Nick Fothergill is a corporate lawyer in our London office. He has more than 20 years' experience advising on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate reorganisations, commercial contracts, private equity and infrastructure transactions and general company law matters.

His practice focuses on transactional work in the energy (both renewable and conventional power), infrastructure, transportation and financial institutions sectors. In addition, he has particular experience of advising on the sale of UK offshore transmission assets as part of the OFTO tender regime run by Ofgem.

Nick joined DAC Beachcroft from Watson Farley & Williams, where he was a partner in the Corporate Department. Prior to that, he was a solicitor in the Company and Commercial Department at Slaughter & May, where he also trained.

Nick's deal experience includes:

  • Advising a leading energy fund on the disposal by way of auction sale of a large renewables portfolio in the UK and continental Europe.
  • The acquisition, and divestment, of various UK onshore wind farms.
  • Various acquisitions and disposals of stakes in UK offshore wind farms.
  • Acting on the acquisition of three UK solar PV farms.
  • The divestment of the transmission assets of six UK offshore wind farms, as part of the OFTO tender regime run by Ofgem.
  • The acquisition of a CCGT power station project in Wales and a related power engineering business.
  • Advising on the sale of the manufacturer of remotely operated vehicles and other subsea equipment.
  • The acquisition of an international ship management and shipping services business.
  • Advising on the acquisition of a major real estate asset in Central London.
  • Advising on the UK aspects of a major corporate reorganisation and demerger for a European utility.
  • Advising on various acquisitions and disposals of consumer finance/banking businesses in the UK and abroad.
  • Various transactions involving the acquisition or disposal of asset leasing companies.
  • Establishing a joint venture business for the consumer financing of the products of a major European agricultural machinery manufacturer.
